Possibilities

Light giggles fill the air,
tiny fisted hands holding the world in their palm,
an infinite range of possibilities,
an aura of love.

An impressionable mind wrought with curiosity,
grasping awkwardly on the ladder of life,
grinning toothily at the journey ahead,
a dream to conquer the world.

A harried struggle to find one’s place,
those ambitions getting stronger,
infinite possibilities narrowing down,
a head held high.

A transformation into responsibility,
the weight of the world on our shoulders,
precious dreams forgotten,
a monotonous life being a remaining goal.

Death getting nearer,
and the realization of a life whiled away,
for those million possibilities did not disappear,
but were simply in disguise.

A sudden will to live again,
an urge to leave a mark on this world,
and those dreams rise again,
and this once, they come to fruition.

And an embraced death of contentment,
unlike a million deaths of bitterness,
for a rope ladder is meant to climb,
not to look back down.

And works being read for generations,
and a smiling face of wisdom looking down,
for even after death,
can we be alive through how we lived our life.

For a journey is of exhilaration,
and those experiences live on,
and life is the most mysterious of all,
yet exceedingly simple in its touch.
