Melancholy

You weigh down on me,
and I spend sleepless nights,
battling you,
and now I have no faith.

I’ve lived long, I’ve fought hard,
and I have my battle scars to prove it,
but you are vicious,
and you pool like lead, clawing at my heart.

You’ve caused me regrets,
you destroy me when I make a mistake,
you are the worst thing that has ever happened to me,
and for that, I thank you.

Because you made me stand up,
and learn to fly after my feet hit rock bottom,
cause I may be made of glass and you shattered me,
but I still shine the brightest.

And now, as I take my last breaths,
I remember you,
because to the world you were just a word, ‘sadness’,
and now I realize, that you were nothing but a blessing in disguise.

Thank you for reading, if you have persevered until here. This could have been similar to one of my previous posts, but I felt like penning it down, because poetry is one of the most eloquent means to convey oneself. You guys inspire me, and I'm grateful.
