Ownership

Good morning, people!
What do teachers and professors love about first-benchers? Why do some people get plum engagements at work? Why do some people climb up the ladder at work faster than others? What is common between these sets of people?
It is the attribute of taking ‘ownership’. These individuals own up and take responsibility for their thoughts and their actions. And because they do so, they are bound to succeed. A person who takes ownership is bound to succeed in his tasks because he or she has a personal stake, to ensure success.
Ownership implies doing that little bit extra. Sure, we all complete tasks assigned in college and at work, but do we go that extra mile to do it exceedingly well? Do we make sure that we take a personal pride in the execution of the task assigned?
These words and phrases are part of the vocabulary of those who take ownership:
"I will complete this task assigned to me at 9 AM tomorrow" and not a weak "I will see if I can try to do this sometime tomorrow"
"I am committed to seeing this project through as it my personal responsbility" as against "Yes, let's see how it goes."
Think of any business leader, or a cine-star or a noted sportsperson. Would Mr Shahrukh Khan have been as popular as he is now, had he not taken ownership of his career when he was a struggling television actor? Would the Zuckerbergs and the Ambanis of this world be where they are if they had taken the backseat, and let others take ownership of their businesses and their destinies?
Go for it, people. Take ownership and grab the world.
